There was a time in my life when I felt really low. Despite getting great grades at school and then university, I didn’t believe in my own abilities and let myself think negatively. What’s more, I was surrounded by people who thought that they were better than others. As a result, I ended up questioning myself every single day.

After a while I realised that I couldn’t carry on like this. I knew I had to change my mindset and inject some positivity into my life. I did a bit of soul-searching and cut ties with negative people and those who drained my energy.

Life is not a bed of roses and there are situations we can’t control. I remind myself every day to look at the bright side and concentrate on the good in my life. It’s not always easy so here is the list of things I can do to inject positivity into your life and enjoy it.

Be kind to yourself 

Befriend your inner critic. When you brush your teeth in the morning, look in the mirror and pay yourself a compliment.

Don’t compare yourself to other people 

Comparison is the thief of joy.

Keep a journal 

You don’t have to write long entries. You can just jot down 2 or 3 good things that happened to you during the day.

Make goals

Take a piece of paper and make a list of things you would like to achieve in life.

Go for a walk or exercise

Are you looking for more reasons to get active? Exercising releases endorphins.

Don’t overanalyse

I’m guilty of being an over-thinker. I constantly remind myself that I shouldn’t waste my time and energy on overanalysing things and situations that had already happened. Instead I try and focus on the future.

Buy fresh flowers 

Fresh flowers always put a smile on everyone’s face.

Watch a film

Put on Netflix and have a date with yourself.

  • Listen to your favourite song. That can instantly cause you to smile and forget your worries. I love the cutting off negative people in your life. I have done this especially, with one of my older sisters. I never speak to her since she is filled with negativity. I only like positive people around me.   • First off, congrats on the launch on this site, it looks amazing, girl! As for these tips, I really couldn’t agree more. I had to cut ties with people because our relationship eventually became toxic and more centered around them and their drama, which always dampens your mood and outlook. I’ve also worked on not overanalyzing everything because sometimes how I interpret something that was said or done was not what was actually meant or intended.
